late bloomers

 
April 13th is the first harvest day for the Circle Acres CSA!! Spinach, green onions, lettuce, sage, and more!
Everything looks beautiful in sunlight....look, see, it is true:

waist high in the oats...they are just blossoming (I saw the stamen inside the little pod!) Soon they will start forming a seed, and when it gets to the milky stage...YOU are invited to come pick them and make powerful nervous system medicine from them. We got RAD last month, drilling holes in sweet gum logs and plugging them with spawn (grown here in NC!), and innoculating "sanitized" straw in bags with loose spawn. See the magic happen...
